Adrienne Maloof was awarded temporary custody of her three sons after alleging that her estranged husband, Paul Nassif, physically abused them last week.
According to a declaration filed by Maloof’s lawyer, Nassif picked the three boys up from school on September 13th. When two of the boys started kicking each other in the vehicle, Nassif allegedly reached back and choked one of the boys.
Maloof also alleges that Nassif spanked one of the boys hard and “threw him in the corner” after catching the boys fighting during a bath.
Maloof’s lawyer also filed a declaration by the couple’s chef alleging that Nassif kicked the family dog because it urinated on the floor and a declaration by a family friend claiming that he saw Nassif put his hands around the neck of one of the children.
Nassif was not given an opportunity to respond to Maloof’s motion for temporary custody because she filed it on an emergency (or ex parte) basis.
Nassif’s lawyer, Lisa Meyer, told TMZ, “This smacks of underhandedness. Adrienne wasn’t even present when this allegedly occurred.” She added, “It is a sad day when parents have to stoop to the level of making false allegations against another parent.” Meyer called Adrienne’s move “gamesmanship at its worst.”
Maloof and Nassif have been married since 2002. Nassif filed for legal separation in July 2012 but amended his petition in August to seek a divorce.
